Ecodesign stoves are now everywhere you look – even though they’re not really a legal requirement until January 1, 2022. Remember, you won’t be able to sell the old ones after that, unless you still have some in stock, but by then it will be like trying to sell black and white TVs when the world’s been turned on to colour.
The ban on smoky coal in Ireland – the first in Europe, will come into force in Autumn 2019, but remember you’ll still be able to burn smokeless coal and there will be plenty of availability to meet demand
It’s Official SIA Ecodesign Stoves ReduceEmissions.The publication of the Defra Clean Air Strategy confirms that Ecodesign stoves will play a centralrole in the government’s plan to reduce emissions from domesticcombustionand commends theSIA for releasing the stoves ahead of the 2022 target date.
Stoves with direct/external air connections do not necessarily have to be expensive. The popular Hi-Flame Alpha 1 and Graphite 5 stoves are both available with a direct air box, they are also Defra approved and SIA Ecodesign ready.
